Step 1

To ensure that you get the job after you get the interview, you should first gather the necessary paperwork. Being prepared with multiple copies of your updated and professional looking resume will always help to get the job as will bringing other pertinent papers. In addition to bringing reference letters and contact information, bringing along a portfolio of your achievements will also help you to get the job after you have landed an interview. If you got the interview it likely means you are qualified for the job so you must come fully prepared to stand out from other candidates.

Step 2

Create your professional appearance to guarantee you will get the job during your interview process. A suit is required for any and all job interviews and a neat and clean look is also needed. Women should always wear stockings and never wear open toed shoes or short skirts. Men should always wear a suit with a shirt and tie. You may think this is not necessary but if you really want to get the job after you get an interview you will do everything you can to stand out as the best. Trust me, I have literally been offered every job I have interviewed for mostly due to my strict adherence to these rules.

Step 3

Be personable but not overbearing if you want to get the job. The best way to get a job during a job interview is to be attentive to what the interviewer is saying and respond in a professional way that is relevant to the job. Use proper English and refrain from letting any type of slang language slip through. Look the interviewer in the eyes and be firm with your handshake.

Step 4

If you really want to get the job, you will ask for it at the end of the job interview. Always close with a questions such as ,"When can I start?" or "What else do I need to do to get this job?". Asking for the job at the need of an interview shows you are truly interested and are serious about the position.

Step 5

Candidates that don't follow up will rarely get the job over someone who does. Sending a thank you email is always good, but if the job is a high level executive position or really something you want, the best way to stand out is to overnight deliver a thank you card directly to the interviewer. Knowing how to thank the interviewer and what to say is also important if you want to get the job
