Current Job Trends in Therapy and Psychology

Professionals working in the fields of therapy and psychology have a number of career options available to them today. There are various types of therapy and psychology jobs surfacing presently that are rewarding and pay very well. Early Intervention Therapists, for example are in high demand now, due to the growing number of children with autism and developmental issues. Early Intervention Therapists in many instances work for the state, with exceptional state employee benefits and compensation. They get assigned to different cases working with children in need of varrying therapy services. For example, Early Intervention Therapists provide therapy services to children from birth-three in homes, in schools and in hospitals. Many therapists are self employed as well or have a private practice.

The Recreational Therapy field is growing as more and more seniors enter into assisted living facilities. Recreational Therapists write and create care plans, hold meeting with resident's family members and organize large and small group activities. Recreational Therapists also work with individuals with brain injury, overcoming illness, healing from abuse/emotional issues etc. The possibilities in Recreational Therapy are endless!

Clinical and counseling psychologists are needed for a variety of reasons: Clinical and counseling psychologists address issues pertaining to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with psychological issues. Clinical and counseling psychologists can be found working in schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, and other mental health facilities. There are over 200 theoretical orientations, each providing a different explanation behind the causes of psychological disorders and their appropriate treatments. Some orientations are more popular than others; however, most psychologists integrate two or more into their therapy. Many individuals and families are in need of professional assistance while working through personal, emotional and psychological issues.

Therapy and psychology careers open many doors to success through different paths with options! Do some research ad talk to experts in the field. Look into getting an internship or sitting in on some college level
classes of interest. Each therapy and psychology job does require schooling and certifications in many instances. It is a wonderful thing to make a positive difference in the world and also get paid well for doing so!
