Where Will You Find Your Next Legal Job?

By : M James

If you're looking for a new job in the legal profession, then you might think that you've looked everywhere, and that there will be many applicants for any suitable job that you do find.

Here are some places that you might not have thought of looking in your quest for your next legal job.

1. Although it might sound obvious, have you tried your local firms of solicitors? You might walk past them on your way to or from work, or know people who work there. You might be just what a firm of solicitors is looking for, and find your dream job much easier than expected.

2. Firms of solicitors might be recruiting in other towns and cities, or in different parts of the country to you. So if you know whereabouts in the country you want to be, why not try local solicitors there?

3. Local papers can be useful too. You might want to see if there are any suitable jobs in your paper, or whether there's any local news that might mean that a firm of solicitors is likely to be recruiting.

4. National newspapers that have law or recruitment sections might also come up trumps. Even though there might be more applicants, as the job is advertised to a wider audience, your skills and experience, as well qualifications should help you to get the role.

5. Maybe you could see if you can find a new corporate la, or employment law job via word of mouth. It might be that your friends and family know somebody who works for a firm of solicitors, or works for a company that has dealings with solicitors, or overhear someone on the bus or train to work, who could help you out.

6. A general recruitment website can prove to be useful too, and can email you the results on a daily or weekly basis. This will mean that you don't have to keep going back to the site, and you won't miss out on any jobs.

7. Legal websites that contain news, views and opinions, are a good place to start when job hunting, as they'll let you know more about who's hiring, and where the best jobs are. If you use legal websites anyway, you won't have to do any more additional work.

8. A cursory glance of many solicitors' websites will provide you with recruitment information, so you can see whether they have a role that is suitable or not. In addition, you might be able to leave your details, so that they can contact you if something does come up.

9. On spec applications might not seem a good idea, however, if you're careful about who you target and when, you might be successful. Perhaps you already know exactly which law firms or areas you want to target.

10. A specialised legal recruitment website might be the answer to your job hunting prayers. By being able to search exactly what you want, including the region and exact location, salary you want, and even amount of experience you've had, you'll only get the jobs that are most suitable for you.

Now you know where to look, and how to find your next legal job, you'll find your perfect legal job in no time.
